JOBS not done well

Its interesting times with Apples latest iPhone 4 hitting a communications snag and Apple, the consumer favorite, saying "you have to buy the patch".

Interesting times when, at the same time, Google's Smartphone Android gains huge market share and has 40 devices using Android with 100,000 app including apps for the Smartphone traveler like and the Caribbean Direct Travel Shopping: Direct Bookings for hotel and tourism activities, direct from the hotel and tourism owners at great discounts.

Andriod apps are growing faster that Apple apps, it now has about 50% of the number of apps on iPhone store, in just one year.

Interesting times indeed when Apple boots flash of its apps store and say in effect "it our way or the highway". And it seems that that is exactly what users are doing. 200,000 android smart phones shipped a day. Google Andriod is outperforming iPhone, it seems, in many ways.

And very Interesting when Apple files patents for Smartphone travelers and Google buys ATI with plans for marketing to travelers, making it easier for travelers to book they say..On line travel agents are wondering what next!. Some are getting ready to slap on antitrust allegations for unfair competition in the travel market.

I really like Steve Jobs - I like Apple because its smart and it dares to be different. the iPhone was really the very first Smartphone and it soon had many apps for travellers. Pretty neat apps like StayHip.com, an agent service and our own direct marketing on http://TarvelOntheGo.mobi and Smartphonetraveller.com marketing. But this latest strutting from Apple is a dismay.

Apple is about to repeat its past. It lost to Microsoft because it tried to control too much. Apple just did not get the open idea. I am sorry Apple, i really wanted you to change the world and you did - But i want you to be part of the future and you will fail with this approach. The Apple team have got to give Steve a boot in the rear and tell him not to betray those who love him and want his leadership. He cant be that by being greedy and selling out some core principles which we all aspire to.

All that stuff about flash just not being up to the JOB is not believable JOBS!. I just do not get it - Its all too self serving. That is snubbing all the flash developers who want to work with Apple and snubbing all the users who want portability and want to have the best apps available. It is snubbing the Internet community by pretending iPhone is open when it can't and will not allow users to view flash content. What next?

I am going to say more. I hope Steve will hear the message from someone because he is great guy - great vision - great products - not great to close it all off and go it alone - not the Proper JOB JOBS!

Be wise guys.

Apple Reverses its stand on apps

Windows Phone 7 Review

Windows Phone7

Windows demonstrated its Phone 7 to the trade In October. There are a dozen reviews on YouTube, I like like the PC Mag quick tour as it highlights some of the ways that Phone 7 is different and what it brings to the marketplace.

I think the integration of applications and browsing is smart. Partners and Developers are seeing new possibilities with the level of integration. The Hub concept is a new way of organising information and processes, it cuts across apps and games and all processes. Hubs are dynamic files in a way that store whatever you want and help you organise your experience. There are Hubs for: People, Games, Pictures, Music & Video, Office and Marketplace.

It fits into the market right in between iPhone and Android in terms of concept, somewhere between the closed and solo iPhone (one manufacturer and OS) and the free for all of Android (50 manufacturers, many browser systems and OS version). Microsoft applications developers and manufacturers are having to conform to strict standards in building apps and phones. The Phone7 provides a single consistent OS, a consistency advantage over the Android which could be running any of several OS/Browser versions. You don't need to worry if you are going to get X on this phone or should I buy the Y version. In this regard Windows is following Apples lead, but it is opting for many vendors, many manufactures, more open platform development and many more variation in the hardware options. In the it is more like Android.

It presents a alternative way to organise information that looks interesting and is timely as icons clutter is already a problem and going to get worse.

Available for Christmas in a store near you. You may probably find it on your iPhone, Droid or Blackberry:

I would be on top of getting the iPhone, it has the application allowing me to stream live TV from my DISH Sling Adapter. Being a DISH network employee, I have had a front row seat to how amazing this new technology is. Check it out!

The news from the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona is all about android. Apple is absent and the buzz is about the mass of new devices based on Googles android. Of special interest in the HTC Facebook phone - see http://facebookhotels.weebly.com/facebook-blog.htm

The word from Barcelona on windows and Nokia venture is that it may already be too late. Systems like Android which has opened development to hundreds of manufactures and have outpaced iPhone, is there room for more? And will Windows and Nokia be an open platform, not likely just another device like HTC. Nokia has to move fast, but it has its own market and users looking for innovations. BBC reports suggest its a case of one lagger choosing to work with another lagger. Handicapped like a three legged racer and too little too late!

I haven't try Windows Phone yet, however I prefer Android for couple of reasons; first of all, Flash support and more importantly Home screen personalisation with live widgets, this article shows briefly some Android advantages over iPhone.
